Board Secretary
Linda has allowed God’s grace to not only see her through one of the greatest tragedies of life, but also to propel her to serve others. The death of her daughter at age nine made her keenly aware of how fragile life is and the need for children to know about God and His love through Jesus. Released Time Bible Education became one of the avenues for her to take God’s love and hope to public school students.
Linda is unequivocally convinced of God’s Absolute Truth as He has provided and proved His Word to her time and time again in many facets of her life. It is this conviction of His unwavering truth and goodness that Linda credits as His preparation for her to serve on the board of SMSC. She is willing to humbly serve God in any way He desires.
Linda’s prayer for SMSC is for more church-school partnerships in our county, wherever God plants them, because students are hungry for the Truth. She sees a desire in them to know the way they should go to live a good life. Linda firmly believes that SMSC points students toward Jesus who is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.
Her experience as an elementary educator helps her bring a teacher’s perspective to conversations. She understands the stresses of teaching as well as its rewards. When she taught public school elementary students, she became aware that it is a mission field for Jesus.
She has witnessed the presence and sovereignty of God in the public school. Linda experienced God’s faithfulness to her during her years in the classroom. Linda’s passion for seeing students come to a personal relationship with Jesus and her teaching experience make her a remarkable fit as a teacher for SMSC. She joyfully serves the students of Pauline-Glenn Springs in the Released Time Bible class. Linda considers it a blessing to have the opportunity to point public school students toward Jesus.
Not only is Linda a retired schoolteacher, she has over 28 years of experience as a church organist, has directed children’s choirs and worked with Vacation Bible School. She and her husband, Gregg, have been married for 47 years. They have three children including her daughter in heaven who died at age 9. She delights in playing with her five grandchildren. Linda’s hands are never idle. She enjoys using them in the kitchen, with a needle and thread as well as in the yard. You might also find her relaxing with a book, taking a peaceful hike or cheering at a Clemson football game.
